Next Event September 1st

In September last year, The Sawmill hosted the magnificent 200th gathering of Art of Conversation.

This month, Art of Conversation returns to the Sawmill  as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. 

Yes, it was 50 years ago that the iconic steakhouse on the south side opened its doors. Founder Tom Goodchild is no longer with us, but the Sawmill is  thriving under the direction of Tom's son, Tasker Goodchild. 

Tuesday, September 1, 2026, come raise a glass to the memory of Tom, and to the continued success of a fine restaurant that is woven into the history of our fair town.

Art of Conversation is a monthly social event held on a weekday from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm during the last week of the month at a restaurant/bar in the Greater Edmonton area. The concept was created in 2006 by media personality Rob Christie and former Edmonton Sun columnist Graham Hicks with the goal of bringing people of diverse backgrounds together to engage in the rapidly vanishing art of face to face conversation.

The event is open to everyone.
